Cold Blockade (The Cold Series Book 3)
About
Spring/summer 1948: CIA agent John Sedo’s greatest mission is about to begin in Peenemünde. The former rocket test-site holds the secrets of Hitler’s V-2 program.
John must infiltrate the area and steal blueprints for weapons that could tip the balance of power. With only a cocky pilot at his side, he will outrun patrols, dodge searchlights and blow up a bunker in the heart of Red Army territory. The unlikely duo relies on strange alliances, even a former Luftwaffe Ace.
The Soviet Blockade of Berlin complicates matters and John navigates the Cold War chill to find a way to the German Baltic coast where no-one else can. Allison’s MI6 father is missing in the mire of the German capital – rail-kid whispers hint at his fate.
While Berlin teeters, Allison Lakehill’s stardom in Boston soars, mirrored by the threat to her life. Lose her, and John will be consumed by the dark passenger within. Neither can live without the other – the world may end up paying the price. John’s choice: shield her or keep the West safe.
A heist. A blockade. Allison.
Praise for this book
What a ride! I was looking for a good spy story and this one really got me hooked. It's about this CIA guy, John Sedo, who has to go into East Germany right after the war to steal some rocket plans. Sounds impossible, right? The place is crawling with Russian soldiers.
The action starts pretty much right away. He's got this pilot with him who seems like a loose cannon, and they even have to team up with a former German pilot. It’s messy, just like real history must have been. The stuff about the Berlin blockade going on at the same time added a cool layer to everything. You really feel the tension of the Cold War starting up.
But it's not all just guns and blowing up bunkers. There's this other story with Allison, who is back in the US. You slowly find out how she's connected to John and why she might be in danger too. I got pretty invested in their relationship. John is trying to save the world, but he's also worried about her. It makes him feel more real.
This book grips you from start to finish, weaving together espionage at Peenemünde and the tense Soviet siege of Berlin. John Sedo makes a compelling protagonist, caught between his mission and his feelings for Allison Lakehill. The story balances historical drama with betrayal and romance, creating an addictive page turner that combines wartime intrigue with emotional depth.
*Cold Blockade* is a masterclass in escalating tension and international intrigue. Rasmus Ronn takes the razor-sharp plotting of the first two books in the Cold Series and raises the stakes to breathtaking new heights. From the opening chapter, the sense of isolation and looming conflict is palpable, pulling you into a world where every decision could spark disaster.
The pacing is relentless—political maneuvering, covert operations, and sudden betrayals unfold with the precision of a thriller at the top of its game. Yet Ronn also gives the characters room to breathe and grow. Their moral struggles and quiet moments of humanity make the action hit even harder.
Atmospheric and meticulously researched, the icy settings feel almost alive, a character in their own right. By the final pages, you’re left exhilarated and eager for the next installment.
Fans of geopolitical thrillers and readers who crave intelligent, edge-of-your-seat storytelling will find *Cold Blockade* an absolute five-star experience.
This book entwines you what at first seems such a simple tale but is actually as dark, twisted and complex as the world it is portraying. Layers upon layers, wheels within wheels and twists upon twists. It's superbly crafted. The writing itself, the language, is simple, dispassionate, objective, and yet it sucks you in absolutely.
